Japan Matters for America / America Matters for Japan is a comprehensive and multi-activity effort to demonstrate and track Japan’s importance to the United States and the United States’ importance to Japan. This project is produced in collaboration between the East-West Center in Washington and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, with additional data and analysis provided by the Japan Center for International Exchange, and is part of the Asia Matters for America initiative.
The East-West Center promotes better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific through cooperative study, research, and dialogue. Established by the US Congress in 1960, the Center serves as a resource for information and analysis on critical issues of common concern, bringing people together to exchange views, build expertise, and develop policy options.
The East-West Center gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation for this project.
